Lxi continues into the new model year boasting several key changes. These improvements include revised suspension tuning box to increase ride comfort, improved interior quietness and restyled exterior emblems. Other refinements are highlighted by a new Sentry Key theft deterrent system, revised wheel designs, revised instrument cluster graphics, and two new exterior colors: Inferno Red and Light Cypress Green. Outstanding value is achieved with a no-charge leather seating package, which includes an eight-way power driver’s seat. Other amenities include a standard air conditioning system, four wheel disc anti-lock brakes, speed sensitive power door locks and next-generation driver and front passenger airbags.

The Chrysler Cirrus was only available in one trim for 1999. The LXi model was once positioned as the more upscale version of the sedan. This LXi included a revised instrument cluster, new exterior budging, and standard chrome wheels. The Cirrus was powered by a 2.5 liter V-6, which generated 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. Despite a seemingly sufficient power supply for a 3000 pound sedan, the Cirrus could not break the 10 second mark for 0-60 acceleration. Fingers were pointed at a hesitant four-speed transmission which did not offer the desired response when the pedal was pushed to the floor. 

The 1999 Cirrus also featured a softer suspension. The prior system was tuned stiff for extra road-awareness and agility, but that was now abandoned in favor of a more silken and forgiving ride feel. Whatever the Cirrus lost in handling, it made up in overall ride quality. Drivers were also very satisfied with Cirrus fuel economy.
